About Dr. David Weintraub
Expertise & Specialization
Dr. Weintraub offers a wide range of neurosurgical treatment for brain and spine disorders. He provides surgical care for pain disorders, including trigeminal neuralgia and neck, back and leg pain associated with degenerative spine disease. His additional areas of specialty include deep brain stimulation surgery for movement disorders, spinal cord stimulation surgery for chronic pain associated with failed back surgery and painful diabetic neuropathy, and surgery for benign and malignant tumors of the brain, pituitary gland and spine.

Professional Background
Before launching his private neurosurgical practice, Dr. Weintraub served as Director of Functional Neurosurgery and assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and then Chair of the Department of Neurosciences at Nassau University Medical Center. Dr. Weintraub is passionate about achieving the highest standard of patient outcome and teaching the next generation of brain surgeons.

Dr. Weintraub completed his undergraduate education at Harvard University, graduating A.B. magna cum laude with highest honors. He received his medical training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine. He also completed national and international fellowships in neurological surgery at the National Institutes of Health and Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand.

About Dr. Jonathan Oren
Dr. Jonathan Oren serves as Co-chief of Orthopedic Spine Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Oren is an award winning spine surgeon in New York City, having been named to the Castle Connolly Top Doctors list in 2023, 2024 and 2025. He was named as a Super Doctor Rising Star as well four separate times. Dr. Oren is a board certified spine surgeon in the Department of Orthopedics at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Dr. Oren attended Duke University for his undergraduate studies, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Oren has since been in New York City, attending NYU School of Medicine, during which time he was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He completed his orthopedic residency at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, serving as executive chief resident during his final year. After his residency, Dr. Oren completed two years of fellowship spine training at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases both in Neurosurgery Spine and Orthopedic Spine Surgery. During his training, Dr. Oren received numerous awards including selection as an Emerging Leader by the American Orthopedic Association.
Dr. Oren focuses his clinical time to treating patients with all types of spine disorders. He treats a wide range of spine conditions including scoliosis (adult and pediatric), spinal deformity, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, radiculopathy and nerve deficits related to spinal conditions, instability of the spine, spinal tumors and degenerative disc disease. He performs many spine procedures including minimally invasive surgery, microdiscectomies, laminectomies, fusion of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, interbody fusions, and disc replacement. Dr. Oren always tries to find an individualized treatment plan for each patient that focuses on non-operative treatment for spinal conditions first, with surgery being a last resort.
Dr. Oren is an active researcher of spinal surgery, with a special interest in spinal deformity. He has been the author or co-author of many articles in top peer reviewed orthopedic and neurosurgery spine journals, including Spine, Bone and Joint Journal, Journal of Neurosurgery Spine. Dr. Oren has contributed to over 40 presentations at national and international spine meetings such as the Scoliosis Research Society, the North American Spine Society, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS).

About Stephene Sullivan, PA-C

Stephene Sullivan practices as a senior physician assistant with Spine Surgeon NY. She practices alongside Dr. David Weintraub and has been his assistant since 2016 both in the operating room and in the outpatient setting.
Prior to her time with Spine Surgeon NY, Sullivan served as the Director of Clinical Services for the Neurosciences Department at Nassau University Medical Center. In that role, Sullivan managed a team of advanced care providers, and directed department medical operations. Additionally, Sullivan was responsible for administrative oversight of the department, as well as the recruitment and training of new PAs. Furthermore, in her unique, hybrid role, Sullivan frequently operated on routine and emergent cases that came into the hospital.
From 2012 to 2022, Sullivan served as the Supervising Physician Assistant at LIJ/Cohen's Children's Hospital. In that role, Sullivan was responsible for supervising daily operations for the Adult & Pediatric neurosurgical department.
Sullivan holds a Master's Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant studies from Wagner College in Staten Island, NY.
