Dr. Weintraub offers a wide range of neurosurgical treatment for brain and spine disorders. He provides surgical care for pain disorders, including trigeminal neuralgia and neck, back and leg pain associated with degenerative spine disease. His additional areas of specialty include deep brain stimulation surgery for movement disorders, spinal cord stimulation surgery for chronic pain associated with failed back surgery and painful diabetic neuropathy, and surgery for benign and malignant tumors of the brain, pituitary gland and spine.

Professional Background

Before launching his private neurosurgical practice, Dr. Weintraub served as Director of Functional Neurosurgery and assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and then Chair of the Department of Neurosciences at Nassau University Medical Center. Dr. Weintraub is passionate about achieving the highest standard of patient outcome and teaching the next generation of brain surgeons.

Education & Training

Dr. Weintraub completed his undergraduate education at Harvard University, graduating A.B. magna cum laude with highest honors. He received his medical training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine. He also completed national and international fellowships in neurological surgery at the National Institutes of Health and Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand.

A leader in his field, Dr. Weintraub is well known for his published neurosurgical research. His work has been featured in top neurosurgical journals, including the Journal of Neurosurgery and Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. Dr. Fabien Bitan specializes in the full spectrum of spinal conditions, with particular expertise in scoliosis and complex spinal deformities across all age groups. His clinical focus includes degenerative spine disease of both the lumbar and cervical regions, as well as revision surgery for failed back syndrome. Dr. Bitan is also experienced in advanced surgical techniques, including minimally invasive and endoscopic spinal surgery, total disc replacement and motion preservation technologies, and kyphoplasty for vertebral compression fractures.

Professional Background

Dr. Bitan serves as Chief of Spine Services at Lenox Hill Hospital, a position he has held for over two decades, and holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at the Hofstra School of Medicine.

Education & Training

Dr. Bitan received his medical degree from Paris University, where his doctoral thesis examined surgical outcomes in 235 cases of lumbar spinal stenosis. He completed his residency training through the Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris system, followed by specialized training in pediatric orthopedics at Institut Calot in Berck-sur-Mer and two years of fellowship training in Paris.

He subsequently pursued advanced subspecialty training in the United States, completing a Pediatric Orthopedics Fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Bitan holds dual board certification, having earned credentials from both the French Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the U.S. Board of Orthopedic Surgery through the American Association of Physician Specialists (A.A.P.S.).
