About Dr. David Weintraub
Expertise & Specialization
Dr. Weintraub offers a wide range of neurosurgical treatment for brain and spine disorders. He provides surgical care for pain disorders, including trigeminal neuralgia and neck, back and leg pain associated with degenerative spine disease. His additional areas of specialty include deep brain stimulation surgery for movement disorders, spinal cord stimulation surgery for chronic pain associated with failed back surgery and painful diabetic neuropathy, and surgery for benign and malignant tumors of the brain, pituitary gland and spine.

In addition to his clinical knowledge and technical expertise, patients appreciate Dr. Weintraub's thoughtfulness and conservative approach to surgery, as he makes every effort to employ all nonoperative measures first. Fluent in English, Spanish and Hebrew, he is also fully committed to being accessible for his patients. His offices are conveniently located in Jericho and Manhattan, and he can be reached on his personal cell phone after office hours if needed.

They are involved in many ongoing clinical trials, such as deep brain stimulation surgery for psychiatric, behavioral and cognitive disorders, and maximizing outcomes data for deep brain and spinal cord stimulation, brain tumor surgery and general spinal surgery.
Professional Background
Before launching his private neurosurgical practice, Dr. Weintraub served as Director of Functional Neurosurgery and assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and then Chair of the Department of Neurosciences at Nassau University Medical Center. Dr. Weintraub is passionate about achieving the highest standard of patient outcome and teaching the next generation of brain surgeons.
Education & Training
Dr. Weintraub completed his undergraduate education at Harvard University, graduating A.B. magna cum laude with highest honors. He received his medical training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine. He also completed national and international fellowships in neurological surgery at the National Institutes of Health and Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand.

About Stephene Sullivan, PA-C
About
Stephene Sullivan practices as a senior physician assistant with Spine Surgeon NY. She practices alongside Dr. David Weintraub and has been his assistant since 2016 both in the operating room and in the outpatient setting.
Prior to her time with Spine Surgeon NY, Sullivan served as the Director of Clinical Services for the Neurosciences Department at Nassau University Medical Center. In that role, Sullivan managed a team of advanced care providers, and directed department medical operations. Additionally, Sullivan was responsible for administrative oversight of the department, as well as the recruitment and training of new PAs. Furthermore, in her unique, hybrid role, Sullivan frequently operated on routine and emergent cases that came into the hospital.
From 2012 to 2022, Sullivan served as the Supervising Physician Assistant at LIJ/Cohen's Children's Hospital. In that role, Sullivan was responsible for supervising daily operations for the Adult & Pediatric neurosurgical department.
Sullivan holds a Master's Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant studies from Wagner College in Staten Island, NY.
